Obit read as follows:
George E. Putnam, 81, of Potomac, died at 5:15 am Sundat at the home of his daughter, Mildred Curtis of Potomac.

Survices will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Royal, with the Rev. O. E. Doesken officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Royal. Friends may call from 5 to 9 pm Tuesday at Lanham Funeral Home, Potomac.

Memorial contributions may be made to the cancer fund.

Mr. Putnam was born July 27, 1892, at Royal, son of Fred and Annie Behrens Putnam. He was married to Kate Loeschen of Royal Dec. 26, 1917. She preceeded him in death.

Mr. Putnam leaves daughters, Dorothy Arrowsmith of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Clara Arrowsmith of Minonk and Mildred Curtis of Potomac; sons, Alvin of Reno, Nev., Clarence of South Roxana, Eugene of Auburn, Calif., and Donald of San Jose, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; a brother Henry of Hoopeston; a sister Minerva Putnam of Royal; stepbrothers Fred Kienietz of Ogden, Herman Kienietz of Danville and Ernest Kienietz of Royal, stepsisters Gertrude Shortsleeve of Royal and Martha Huls of Flatville.

He was preceeded in death by four sons, a brother and grandchild.

Mr. Putnam was a retired farmer who moved to Potomac from Royal 10 years ago. He was a member of St. John's Luthern Church, Royal and the American Legion of Royal.
