Son of the late William Matthew and Mattie Parrish, he attended Bethany Public Schools and Bethany Peniel College, where he was part of the collegiate gospel quartet for two years. He married Lillian Martha Vawter on August 4, 1934. She died in 1966. He married Sara Fleming Boll in 1966. During WWII, he moved to California and worked for Douglas Aircraft Company, later transferring the the Midwest City plant (now known as Tinker Air Force Base). He worked for the George E. Failing Company in Enid and then for Hans Gruner Rock Bit Company in Ponca City. He started Central Machine and Tool Company in 1951 and it later became Parrish Enterprises, Ltd., with five subsidiaries and 14 warehourse for PT Coupling Company. He was a member of the Enid Lions Club, the Salvation Army Board and Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was survived by his wife, Sara; four children, Jerry Parrish, Jan Bergin, James R. Parrish and Linda Parrish; 12 grandchhildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. His funeral was held on September 8, 2009, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with The Rev. Wade Burleson officiating.
