Grandma Pacek had several sons - William, Louie and Eddie changed their last name to Pack while Victor and Dominic kept the family name of Pacek. Raymond's father (William) was one of the boys that changed his name.

Raymond J. Pack, 50, Vernon Drive, died at 8:50 p.m. Feb. 26 as the result of an auto accident in Chillicothe.

He was born Aug. 31, 1937, in Youngstown to William V. and Ann H. Krempasky Pack, who survive and live in Warren, Ohio. On Aug. 16, 1963, he married the former Wilma A. " Willi" Righthouse, who also survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Heidi N. Pack, at home; two brothers, Donald W. Pack, Evansville, Ind., and David A. Pack, Warren; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pack had been superintendent of the Pickaway-Ross County Joint Vocational School since 1980. He received a B.M. Cum Laude from Youngstown State University in 1961. He was selected to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia in 1960. In 1964, he received his Master of Education degree from Ohio University, where he had been working on his doctorate.

He was a recipient of a Graduate Assistantship at Ohio University and was selected to Phi Delta Kappa in 1963.
In 1965, Mr. Pack received the Dwight L. Arnold Award (Guidance Counselor of the Year) by the Ohio School Counselors Assoc. He had been president of the Ross Area Guidance Assoc. in 1970, Ohio School Counselors Assoc. in 1971, Ohio Vocational Guidance Division in 1976, and Ohio Vocational Assoc. in 1978.

He was recipient of the Distinguished Service Award (Vocational Education of the Year - Ohio Vocation Assoc. Guidance Division) in 1978.

Mr. Pack was consultant to various state and federal education departments. He was a member of the steering committee for Ohio Valley Guidance Council in 1965. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1966, and was moderator of Chillicothe Channel 2's monthly television program in 1967. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, American and Ohio Vocational Associations, Buckeye Assoc. of School Administrators, Ohio School Boards Assoc. and Ohio Assoc. of Joint Vocational School Superintendents.

Mr. Pack first taught in the Warren Township Schools from 1960 to 1962. He then became guidance counselor at Scioto Valley Local Schools in Richmond Dale from 1963 to 1966. He was director of guidance and high school supervisor of Ross County Schools from 1966 to 1972, and from 1972 to 1980, he was coordinator of guidance services at Pickaway-Ross Vocational Center.

Mr. Pack was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Charles P. Essman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 tonight at the Ware Funeral Home where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pickaway-Ross Student Assistance Fund, 895 Crouse Chapel Road, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
