Mrs. Atkins was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Red River County, Texas, to James Alison Giddens and Minnie Melverde Smith Giddens. She married John Bennett "Ben" Atkins on Dec. 24, 1937, in Hugo, Okla.
Survivors include two daughters, Jody Fenslage of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carolyn Shufeldt of Denver; two sons, James Atkins and wife Connie of Maxwell and Bill Atkins of Oklahoma City; a brother, W. O. Giddens of Irving, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Gideons Living Memorial Bible Plan, The Gideons International, PO. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
