Veronica Lynn Belitz, age 22, passed away August 30, 2009, in Knoxville, TN. She was born Aug. 27, 1987, in Johnson City, TN, a daughter of Ronnie & Glenda Belitz. Veronica was a 2005 graduate of distinction at Tennessee High School where she was also a valedictorian. In high school, she was a member of Tennessee High's Mighty Viking Band where she was in the drumline for four years and in the All East Top Band. She was a 2005 candidate for Queen of Hearts. She was offered a scholarship at New York University but chose to attend the University of Tennessee where she was a Volunteer Scholarship recipient and UT Alumni Association Valedictorian Recognition Award recipient. She was also a member of the Gamma Alpha Chapter, Delta Gamma Fraternity and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. Veronica was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glenn & Barbara Lucille Brackin; and her uncle, Gerald Belitz. Survivors include parents, Ronnie & Glenda Belitz of Bristol, TN; sister & brother-in-law, Tonda & Charlie Reynolds; niece and nephew, Ella and Jude, all of Bristol, CT; grandparents, Ted & Florence Belitz of Maryville, TN; special boyfriend, Jesse Hatcher of Knoxville, TN; special friend and buddy, Sadie; uncle & aunt, Rickie & Susan Belitz; aunt, Pat Beltiz; and cousins, Gerald Jr., Derrick, Chris and Nick Belitz, all of Maryville. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Maryville. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blount, Knox or Sullivan County Animal Shelters. Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.
