Melvina "Vina" Sharp, 98, Lake City, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her home.

Vina was born on Nov. 6, 1911, in Anderson County to the late Eligh and Sally Hatmaker Foust.

She was a member of the Island Ford Baptist Church in Lake City. Vina loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Vina was preceded in death by First husband, Roy Beach, who was killed in a coal mining accident; second husband, Homer Thomason Sharp; son, Louis Beach; sisters, Mona Bryant, Luzzetta Lewis, Dora Burris, and Minnie Gaylor; brothers, Kelly, Henry and Mitchell Foust; daughter-in-law, Jean Sharp

She is survived by Daughter, Hazel Beach Miller Carden of Lake City; son, Homer Sharp Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Lillian Mae Teague of South Carolina; grandchildren, Ray Miller of South Carolina, Mechelle, Michael and Chris Sharp, all of Alaska; seven great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. The funeral service followed in the chapel with the Rev. David Walker and the Rev. Charles Harness officiating. Family and friends will meet at1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the funeral home at and go in funeral procession to the Island Ford Baptist Church Cemetery in Lake City for a 2 p.m.graveside service. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City is in charge of all arrangements.
