Born Nettie S. Pigeon, July 4, 1938 in Vancouver, WA, Susan went home to her Savior, August 23, 2009 at home. She lived in Vancouver, Salmon Creek, and prior to that in Florence, Oregon where her mother and father had a Grocery Store.
Susan graduated in 1956 from Vancouver High School. She went to Clark College for Nutrition services, where she met and married Robert A. Bartel, in Vancouver on September 6, 1957.
She worked at Vancouver Dispatch for Police, Ambulance, doctors and lawyers. She also took in ironing when her kids were young. She sold Tupperware, and worked at Montgomery Wards at Jantzen Beach, and then at the Shell gas station in Vancouver close to home, until she retired at 65.
She loved fostering many children before and during the time she adopted her children and granddaughter, CheyAnne. She loved her family, TV shows, the beach, going for drives and BINGO!
Susan is survived by her brother, Pierre Pigeon; daughter, Rachel (Artie) Quinn; son, Aaron (Dawn) Bartel; six grandchildren, Justin, Eric, CheyAnne, Courtney, Dakota and Olivia; one great-grandson, Ricky, and one unborn grandson, she called Murphy, and many Bingo Friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Inez Glawe and Leo Pigeon; two sisters, Louise and Madlyn; one brother, Robert Spence; and her husband of 51 years.
We will all miss her kind and caring heart.
She loved all and will be missed by many.
