Clarence H. Macomber, Jr., 80, of 318 Central St., Gardner, formerly of Winchendon, died Friday, March 18 in Heywood Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Keene, NH June 13, 1924 son of the late Clarence H. and Lillian C. (Ellis) Macomber and lived here eighteen years. His wife, Clare E. (Daly) Macomber died in 1955. Mr. Macomber was a World War II veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Macomber was employed with the Brown Package Co. of Winchendon for many years prior to his retirement. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three sons, Robert F. Macomber of Winchendon, Philip L. Macomber of Jacksonville Beach, Florida and Brian A. Macomber of Granbury, TX, one daughter, Mary F. Julian of Gardner, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters. Elizabeth A. Macomber of Winchendon died in 1966 and Catherine A. Macomber of Worcester died in 1985.
