She was born February 4, 1917 in Streator, a daughter of Frederick and Gertrude (Haldeman) Barber. She married Melvin Baker on October 8, 1936 in Streator. He survives.
Also surviving are a son: Dr. Robert G. Baker of New York, New York; daughters: Bonnie (Joseph) Lamagno of Noblesville, Indiana and Patricia L. (Mark) Harper-Hogan of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida; five granddaughters; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Olive Barber; a brother: Harry Barber; and a grandson: Daniel J. Lamagno.
A Streator resident all of her life, she and her husband owned and operated LaSalle County Travel Agency for 24 years. A 1935 graduate of Streator high school, she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Streator Country Club.
