Clotella Mae Phillips was born on June 22, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri to Clara Elizabeth and Richard Banks, Sr.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, Clara and Richard Banks, and one daughter, Kimberly Phillips.
Clotella attended Booker T. Washington School and then went on to graduate from Lincoln High School. She was employed with the Juvenile Justice Department until her
retirement in 2001. Even after her retirement she remained a mentor for young women from various group homes.
Clotella accepted Christ at an early age, and was the Church Secretary at New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ in Kansas City, Kansas.
Clotella Mae Phillips is survived by five children: Pamela Conrad, Rosaland Scott, Edward Phillips, III, Jeffery Phillips, and Karla Philips; one son-in-law, Rickie Scott; a nephew she helped raise, Warren Banks; two sisters,
Evelyn Little and Deborah Banks; two brothers, Richard Banks Jr., and Vander Paige; special friends: Velma Phillips, Anita Thompson, and Annie Lovette; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral Services for Clotella Mae Phillips will be held on Saturday, September 5, 11:00 a.m. at The Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Linwood Chapel, 1800 E. Linwood Blvd.
Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at The Chapel. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
