He was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Stanberry, Mo., to John Park and Myrtle Odella Huffman Bigham. He spent his early life in the Thompsonville community in Jefferson County. He graduated from Meriden High School in 1935. He moved in 1941 to Plains in Meade County where he worked on a cattle ranch. He moved in 1950 to Milford where he worked for Johnson Brothers Furniture before he retired in 1979.
He married Nettie S. Lister on Oct. 29, 1937, in Topeka. They moved to Abilene July 9, 1994. She survives. A son, Kenneth Bigham, and a grandson, Dan Schmidt, preceded him in death.
Other survivors include a son, Larry V. Bigham, Meriden; a daughter, Sharon "Kay" Schmidt, Chapman; two sisters, Hazel Badger, Topeka, and Mildred Kinman, Grimes, Iowa; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Congregational Church in Milford.
Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
Mr. Bigham will lie in state from 10 a.m. today until noon Wednesday at Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
