James Oliver Godette. 76.
of 214 East 31st St., Lorain.
formerly active in the Lorain
County Democratic Party,
died yesterday in St. Joseph
Hospital after a long illness.
A former Ohio State fire
inspector. Mr. Godette retired
in 1963 as general superintendent
of state highway
garages, District 3, at Ashland.
He was born in Pittsfield
and had lived in Lorain
35 years. During World War I
he served in France as a top
sergeant in Co. F. 801st
Pioneer Infantry.
Mr. Godette was a life
member of Lake Erie Elks
Lodge, 362, a member of the
Past Exalted Rulers Council.
Northern District 15, and of
Wesley Methodist Church.
Lorain.
Surviving are his wife.
Mae. and a brother, Vem. of
Oberlin. A brother, Roy of
Oberlin. died three weeks
ago.
Friends will be received at
Brown's Funeral Home.
Lorain. after 6 p.m. today and
tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m.
Lake Erie Lodge will have
a service tomorrow at 7:30
p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be
Thursday at 1 p.m. in the
funeral home. Burial will be
in Elmwood Cemetery.
