In 1770, General Thomas Sumter married the wealthy widow Mrs. Mary Jameson, eleven years his senior. They settled in St. Mark's parish, opened another store, a sawmill and a grist mill. They had one child, a son, Thomas Sumter, Jr., born August 30, 1768.

Additional Information:
It's quite firm that she was previously married to William Jameson who died about 1766, that she married General Thomas Sumter about 1767, and that she died 24 Oct 1817. Her date of birth and parents, however, are less certain.
