She was born August 10, 1940, the daughter of Melvin Arey and Hilda Baker Miller of VMRC, Harrisonburg, Virginia, and lived most of her life in the Goods Mill area of Rockingham County.
On June 23, 1961, she married Charles William Rodeffer of Harrisonburg who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Sonja Rodeffer and son-in-law, Mark Baker; and six grandchildren: Valerie, Matthew, Amanda, April, Zachary and Cassidy Joy all of Glen Allen, Virginia; a sister Darla L. Miller of Harrisonburg and three brothers and their wives, Gerald and Betty Miller of Ames, Iowa; Neil Miller of Harrisonburg and Kevin and Peggie Miller of Yorktown, Virginia; also, two nieces and a nephew.
Mrs. Rodeffer graduated from Montevideo High School in 1958 and Madison College (JMU) in 1962. She retired in 1991 from Rockingham County Schools, having taught for 28 years - 27 at Keezletown Elementary School.
She was an active member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren near Port Republic and had served on and chaired the Missions and Service and Nurture Commissions. She also served on the Historical Committee, Church Board and was a deaconess.
A memorial service will be conducted by her pastor, A. Lee Kinsey, at the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be closed and burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the church social hall following the memorial service and friends may call at the Rodeffer residence at any time.
