Mrs. Cogdell died Monday May 22, 2006 in Lubbock.
She was born September 3, 1917 to Arthur and Hazel Jones Hunter in Oscuro, New Mexico. She graduated 3rd in her class from Austin High School in El Paso in 1935. She met Ralph Cogdell and they were married on December 28, 1938. Ralph preceded her in death on May 27, 1976, almost 30 years to the day of her own passing. She moved to Floydada from Follett in 1947. She was a Teacher's Aid and worked for the Hesperian Newspaper. She retired in 1983. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She also was interested in study clubs and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Floydada. She moved to Lubbock in June of 1996 to be near her daughter.
Mrs. Cogdell is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Polly.
Those left to mourn her death are one son, David Cogdell of Reston, Virginia; two daughters, Mary Whitehead of Lubbock and Lucy Sharkey of Houston; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
