Floy Jean Adkisson, 81, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006.
She was born in Thorp Springs, Texas, on December 9, 1924, to Walton Parker Hale and Mary Vick Hale.
She attended Texas Women's University, in Denton, Texas, and obtained her teaching certificate years later. She taught schools in Petersburg, Texas and DeSoto, Texas as a high-school business teacher until her retirement. She moved to Kerrville several years ago, where she was active with genealogy and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society Colonial Dames, United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Texas First Families.
Survivors include her son Paul Haines, of Claremore, Oklahoma, her daughter Mary Trippet Moore, of Pflugerville, Texas, daughter Martha Haines, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her brother Bill Hale, of Floydada, Texas. She had 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Adkisson, and both parents, Walton and Mary Hale.
She was a member of Grace Bible Chapel.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25th, at Kerrville Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Garden of Memories in Kerrville, Texas.
