Andrew Johnson was born at Balestrand, County of Sogn, Norway, March 3, 1866. He came to the United States as a young man and made his home at Ostrander, Minn. for some time. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Johnson, daughter of the late Martin Johnson of this place, Nov. 12, 1902. They moved to Pine county in 1903, and settled on 80 acres of land which they worked up into a good farm home. Six children were born to this union. His wife died Sept. 30, 1916.
on July 21, 1924, he was again married to Anna C. Johnson of this place, and two children were born to this union. Last summer he began to suffer from what turned out to be cancer of the throat, and although he sought the best medical help, it had gone too far to be cured, and the most they could do for him was to relieve the suffering a little. The first week in December he became much weaker and suffered great pain, and was taken to St. Mary's hospital, Duluth, where he passed away, Dec. 16th at the age of 61 years, 9 months, and 13 days.

He was carried to his last resting place, in the cemetery by the following old friends and neighbors: G.E. Carroll, John Wolby, John M. Anderson, Ole Beckstrom, Aron Magnuson, and Peder Erickson. A large number of people attended and paid their last respects to the dead one and many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence.

Johnson, and eight childred namely: Mrs. Granaas of Solana, Juno of this place, Florence and Rhoda and Nina of Minneapolis, Dennis of Solana, and the two youngest who are with their mother; also, a sister at Houston, Minn, and a brother and sister in Norway.
