Birth: Oct. 8, 1899
Cook County
Illinois, USA
Death: Aug. 19, 1969
Los Angeles County
California, USA

My grandfather served in WW1 and WW2. He was Honorably discharged in 1943 for an injury. He moved from Chicago ILL to California in the 1950's with my Grandma Ruth Ethel Woodard Carter. They enjoyed southern California very much and he worked as a Aircraft Machinist before he retired.
The day my grandfather was put to rest, was the first time I had ever seen a dead person. At his service it was open casket. I was very young and I found this to be very disturbing. So to this day, I tell my family not to have an open casket for me when I die. I loved my grandpa he was funny and fun. He had a great smile and seemed taller then he was, he was never fat, but always loved to eat dessert with his meal. Usually a fruit pie.
