RINCON - LeeRoy Akins, Jr. 70, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009. The Bulloch County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon and the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. He graduated from Commercial High School in 1957, was the owner/operator of Akins & Bobb Motors, member of Automobiles Service of Excellence, and the Cobra Club. He served in the GA Air National Guard 117th and 165th. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeeRoy Akins and Marie Jones Akins. He and his wife of nearly 53 years have traveled through all 50 states, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, cruised the Panama Canal, and visited Germany and Amsterdam. Survivors include his wife, Joan B. Akins of Rincon; son, Roy (Janice) Akins of Springfield; daughter, Patty Redmond of Pooler; grandchildren, Jennifer Pulaski, Jessica Deloach, Stacy Akins, Bruce Redmond, and Lee Akins; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Drawdy; step-great-granddaughters, Amber and Ami Pulaski; sisters, Arlene Lanier, Sequal Fraser, Martha Lee, and Betsy Adams; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Rincon with Rev. Bob Rogers officiating. Mr. Akins will lie in state from 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Wayne Lee, Walter Lee, Jeff Lee, Keith Lanier, Don Adams, Jim Lanier, and Lonnie Harn. Honorary pallbearers will be the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. Interment will be in Effingham Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be given to First Baptist Church of Rincon Building Fund, 201 E. 6th Street, Rincon, GA 31326. Thomas C.
