William Clifford DeBord, 90, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Dr. David Evans of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. DeBord was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Hedley and has been a Texas Panhandle resident all of his life. He was a Baptist. He married Mildred Miller on Sept. 5, 1971. He was loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. As a young man he loved and played baseball. He was involved in farming prior to owning his own businesses in Sunray and Canyon. He retired in the late 1970s. He was an active member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, managing the Sunday Band, and the 45 Uppers Club, serving on the board of directors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. William and Mattie DeBord; two brothers, Clarence and Burk DeBord; and two sisters, Helen DeBord and Neva Jester.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Lawrence DeBord of Stratford; a sister, Edna Dishman of Dallas; two sons, Ray DeBord and wife, Diana, of Bedford, and Neal DeBord and wife, Tona, of Amarillo; a daughter, Deana Milliron of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, 1311 S. Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
