Birth: Mar. 12, 1870
Allen County
Kansas, USA
Death: Jan. 27, 1959
Newell Run
Washington County
Ohio, USA

Frankie was born about a month after her father, Daniel Deal, First Duty Sgt. and Regimental Flag Bearer, in 70th IN, Co. D., died in Feb. 1870, from results of injuries sustained at Battle of Resaca, GA. Her mother, Cynthia Ann (Farr) Deal, later married Levi Perry Hyatt. Frankie spent most of her older childhood in Alanthus, Genrty Co., MO. In 1894, Frankie married Joseph Dexter Bate. Frankie and "Deck", as her husband was known, farmed in the Newell Run area of Washington Co., OH. They reared two sons.

This information was abstracted from Daniel Deal's pension file, an obituary from "The Marietta, Ohio, Times," Wed. evening, Jan. 28, 1959, page 19, and additional notes provided by LaVonne Wolf and Lulu Garber.

Frankie was my great aunt, although I never knew her. I do remember my grandfather, Thad Deal, Frankie's brother, talking about letters received from her from OH to his home in Alva, OK.
