Mrs. Kjester Marie Smith died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Charles Schafer, in Cobb boulevard, at an early hour this morning, after an illness dating from the beginning of the new year.
Mrs. Smith was born In Denmark, Feb. 12, 1829 where she grew to womanhood and was married to Hans J. Smith. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Smith continued to reside in Denmark until 1832 when they crossed the water to the United States, coming to Kankakee, where they made their home for a short time and then they went to Minnesota where Mr. Smith died about 10 years ago. Shortly after the death of Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith returned to Kankakee and had since resided with the daughter at whose home she resided.
Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons and two daughters, as follows: Chris Smith of Otto, John Smith of Chebanse, Peter Smith of Staunton, MI, Mrs. Anton Peterson of Exira, Ia., and Mrs. Charles Schafer of this city. Kankakee Daily Republican, January 15, 1912
