George Washington Masoner was the son of Andrew S. Masoner and Caroline Guinn Masoner, born in Bright Hope, Greene County, Tennessee. He was the grandson of George Masoner and Agnes Lauderdale Masoner.

He married Emaline E. Cochran on 3 Sep 1871. Emaline was born about 1851 in Greene County, Tennessee. She died before 1880. George Washington Masoner and Emaline Cochran Masoner had one living son, John Clark Masoner, who was born on 8 Oct 1872 in Bright Hope, Greene County, Tennessee. They had the following children: Marion Andrew Masoner (1885-1921), William Talley Masoner (1888-1964), James Harley Masoner (1890-1959), George Lace Masoner (1892-1969), Riley (Bill) Masoner (1894-1923), John Hubert Masoner (1898-1975), and Ivan Glenn Masner (17 May 1904-1974).
