Chief Steward, S.S. Storaa (London), Merchant Navy. Son of Johan Volzgen and Catherine Nielsen; husband of Gerda Nielsen, of Bullerup, Fyn, Denmark. Age: 31.
Although listed on Panel 102 among the lost when the S.S. Storaa was sunk on November 3, 1943, he is not included in the CWGC database of names for this memorial. He died in an earlier incident and his body was recovered. He is buried at Ben M'Sik European Cemetery in Casablanca, Morocco.
"In June 1940, Storaa was detained at Casablanca, Morocco. Her crew were imprisoned, but they escaped deportation to a German work camp when the Allies invaded French North Africa."
