Graveside funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Mereta for Peter Ballard Poland, 84, pioneer of Texas, who died at the home, 607 North Elm Street, Sunday night. Mr. Poland had been in ill health for several years.

He came to Texas 80 years ago and had resided here for 20 years.

Survivors include a son, C. T. Poland, Conroe, and five daughters, Mrs. J. H. Bartholomew, and Mrs. Sam Bush, both of Franklin, Mrs. Horace Jenkins, Goose Creek, Miss Elizabeth Poland, San Antonio, and Mrs. T. L. McGilvary, San Angelo.

Massie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
