He was admitted to the bar in 1919 and commenced the practice of law in Chicago, Illinois. From 1921 to 1923, he was assistant State Attorney of Cook County and was officer for Illinois Commerce Commission in 1947, 1948, 1955 and 1956. In 1957, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-fifth Congress serving until 1959. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed legal practice and was appointed to the Chicago Regional Export Expansion Council in 1970, serving until his death.
