( Sarah/SALLY Davidson is listed as a midwife ( later on ) per the 1880 Hickman Co. TN Census. Was "UNKNOWN SON" of the 1840 census, not yet born by time 1830 Hickman Co. TN Census was enumerated for Sarah / Sally Davidson ? Only oral history has listed Gabriel Davidson b. 1830 TN as child of Sarah Davidson b. 1801 NC who lived in Hickman Co. TN. More verifications are needed before listing Gabriel as Sarah's son. Per estate records in Williamson Co. TN , GABRIEL DAVIDSON is listed as a granson of JAMES POTTS and his daughter is listed as NANCY DAVIDSON who is wife of JOHN DAVIDSON. NANCY POTTS and JOHN DAVIDSONS marriage records show they married in 1817 Williamson Co. TN. ) "IMPORTANT NOTE" : 1880 Boone Co. AR Census, Blythe TWP Dist. 21 enumerated on June 17th 1880 by A. I. Lopp listed James Monroe Davidson as "JAMES DAVISON" ( no "D" ) age 55 with wife Prudie A. age 48. James Davison b. TN had parents both listed on this 1880 Boone Co. AR Census as having been born in NORTH CAROLINA. That means that Sarah Davidson b. 1801 NORTH CAROLINA and UNKNOWN father to her son JAMES MONROE DAVIDSON was also born in North Carolina.

Robert Wade entered into sale of Hickman Co. TN land on Jan. 05, 1850 to JAMES M. DAVIDSON both being of Hickman Co. TN. James M. Davidson paid $553.75 for a partial acreage of 160 acres from Robert Wade. The first mention in my files of ROBERT WADE being in Hickman Co. TN is the following land deed there in 1831- 1835

Per Tina Rogers Beller Files
( E. DEATON is ELIAS DEATON b. bet. 1784/ 86 NC, and of Montgomery Co. NC who married ELIZABETH YARBOROUGH. Parents of ELIAS DEATON are JOSEPH DEATON, SR. born abt. 1755 in AMELIA CO. VA and ELIZABETH JORDAN, who possibly married in about 1784, in Montgomery Co. NC. ELIZABETH JORDAN/ JOURDAN was daughter of FRANCIS JORDAN / JOURDAN of Montgomery Co.NC. ELIZABETH JORDAN/ JOURDAN was born about 1765 in AMELIA CO. VA and she died before 1860 in MONTGOMERY CO. NC. Joseph Deaton Sr. died between 1831 - 1832 in Montgomery Co. NC. His wife, ELIZABETH JORDAN was the sister to AGNES JORDAN and SARAH ANN JORDAN. Sister AGNES JORDAN married LITTLEBERRY HICKS the brother to ROBERT V. HICKS who married the other JORDAN sister, SARAH ANN JORDAN. ELIAS DEATON's brother BASEL DEATON b. 1788 Montgomery Co. NC died between 1830-1840 in McNairy Co. TN. BASEL DEATON had married BARBARA " BARBERY" STEWART abot. 1812 in Montgomery Co. NC. ( After living in Montgomery Co. NC these HIcks, Jordans and Deatons then appear in Hickman Co. TN, and then some moved on to McNairy Co. TN later on. ) Per the Deaton files, it is said; " About 1830, the "DEATON WAGONTRAIN" left Troy, Montgomery County, North Carolina to travel to McNairy County, Tennessee - - five brothers and their families, including BASEL DEATON. It is noted that these five brothers were nephews of SARAH ANN JORDAN, the sister of ELIZABETH JORDAN. It is speculated that Sarah may have traveled to McNairy Co. in the same approximate time frame. "
Littleberry Hicks and wife Agnes Jordan both died abt. 1839 in Aetna, Hickman Co. TN. Robert V. Hicks and Sarah Ann Jordan are parents to SARAH ANN HICKS who married HARVEY LOVE DAVIDSON in late Oct. 1830 Hickman Co. TN. The Hicks, Deatons and Jordans can be found in McNairy Co. TN by 1840, where Harvey Love Davidson also lived with wife Sarah Ann Hicks next to her HICKS/ HIX parents. Harvey Love Davidson b. 1811 TN ( uncle to JAMES MONROE DAVIDSON who purchased the HICKMAN CO. TN land from Robert Wade in the 1850's, with E. DEATON as witness to this deed. )
JAMES MONROE DAVIDSON had married PRUDENCE ANN ELKINS in about 1852 in TN, and then they are next found on the 1860 MARION CO. AR Census. James Monroe Davison had listed on his 1880 Boone Co. AR Census, that both his parents ( Sarah Davidson and UNKNOWN ) were born in NC.
James Monroe Davidson's aunt by marriage, Sarah Ann Hicks DAVIDSON born about 1812 in Montgomery Co. NC, died Dec. 25, 1889 in McNairy Co. TN and James Monroe Davidson's uncle, Harvey Love Davidson died on April 16, 1854 in McNairy Co. TN. SARAH ANN JORDAN and her husband ROBERT V. HICKS / HIX were considered in the past to have died in McNairy Co. TN, but recent research is leaning towards their having moved out of McNairy Co. TN and dieing in Indiana. ( I have no verifications as to where the HICKS died but they were in Montgomery Co. NC, then moved to Hickman Co. TN, then moved to McNairy Co. TN. between 1830 and 1840 it is thought. ) ROBERT WADE had purchased land in Hickman Co. TN in 1831from Carouthers, and E. Deaton was the witness to Robert Wade and James Carothers 1831 Deed. )
Per Ronn Deaton's files he says this about the DEATON family of Montgomery Co.NC
" Joseph ( DEATON ) is significant because he was the first DEATON to marry and to have children in NC. Joseph Sr. is the Father of many lines. Joseph Deaton, Sr. settled two miles east of Troy, Montgomery Co. NC at the forks of Little River. Joseph (Deaton) Sr. provided food stuffs and supplies to Gen Washington's army at the Battle of Guildford Courthouse. "
"The First Federal Census in 1790 for Montgomery County, North Carolina, Joseph Deaton reported the following household data: Free white males 16+; 1. 'Free white males under sixteen years': 3. 'Free white females, including heads of families: 3. 'All other free persons: 0. 'Salves: 0.' (Source: "STATE RECORDS OF NORTH CAROLINA," VOL. XXVI, page 778.) (Roll No. 2, Page No.: 165.)"
Per the Hickman Co. TN Pioneer Article on April 9, 1880 under heading of HISTORICAL SKETCHES of HICKMAN COUNTY, More About Upper Beaverdam and its Early Settlers. "
"Elias Deaton lived fifty years ago near the Cross - Roads; he was an "old Baptist Preacher" a man of very common intellect and not much cultivation; he raised several very rowdying boys ; he was rather fond of his dram; he moved over forty years ago to West Tennessee, and there joined the Non-Resurrectionists and finally the Universilist ; he was a man of not much stability. Per CARL MATLOCK :
"1880 - There is a James Medlock age 40 with a wife,Raudle, daughters Susan 6 and Hester 3 living next to James Monroe Davidson. Our Jim's sister Miranda married the son of James Davidson. Susan Jane Matlock married Robert Hankins and they are in the area. Isaac A. Matlock married into 2 of the families close by. Could this be our Jim who is married again? I believe it is him. The age is right. The use of Susan for his daughter, the same as his Mother, is common. William W. Matlock is shown in Cedar Co., Mo. still at home with Clinton and Susan. Magnes,a son of Isaac A. Matlock is living with them also. "
Per the 1880 Boone Co. AR Census it shows on same page James Medlock ( Matlock ) and wife and living next door to them is JAMES DAVISON ( no D ) and wife Prudie Ann Elkins Davison/ Davidson. Note James Monroe listed his parents both born in North Carolina.
