Funeral services for John Hunter (Piney) Murdock, Jr., were held this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with Rev. Fern Miller, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. V.C. Sparks, pastor of the Assembly of God Church.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home.
John Murdock was born at Plaska on August 31, 1923. He was united in marriage to Miss on Moreland of Plaska on August 3, 1947. He was the proprietor of Piney's Garage, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Christene Murdock of Memphis; one daughter Patsy Lynn of Memphis; two sons, John Carrol and Jerry Don, both of Memphis; his father, John Murdock, Sr., of Memphis; two brothers, Eldon and Bobbie Murdock, both of Amarillo; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Wilson Jr., and Mrs. Harold Saxon, both of Amarillo, and Mrs. Earl Bloxom of Memphis.
Pal bearers were Grady Worthington, Weldon Eubanks, Barney Baten, Jackie Blum, J.M. Ferrel, Jr., and Ernie Anthony.
Honorary pall bearers were Henry Foster, Raymond Foster, Dr. H.R. Stevenson, Red Wynn, Alvin Winters, Paul Smith, Herman Yarbrough, and Ector Anthony.
