William Dickey, son of Archibald, was born at Gettsburg, PA. His father came to this country from Ireland settling at Gettsburg and later came to Manorville, Armstrong County. Wiliam settled on a tract of 169 acres in Washington Twp, built a log cabin and led a most industrious life, helping to pay for his land by threshing during the winter. In those days the work was done with a flail. He was well-known and respected man in his day. He served 25 years as justice of the peace and was overseer of the poor. In politics he was a Republican, in religion a member of the United Presbyterian Church. He died in 1872, aged seventy-two years. His first marriage was to Ibbie (Isabella) Templeton, by whom he had ten children. Only four reached maturity. Eliza J, Mrs David McGarvey ; Isabella, , Mrs Phillip Templeton, ; Rachael, Mrs Samuel Campbell and Robert. Williams second wife was Elizabeth Barnet. She was the widow of Nathaniel Henry . With Nathaniel she had one son, Stewart, born in 1840. There were two childen born to Elizabeth and William; William Calvin and Sarah Ann. Sarah was born May 6, 1847. Mrs. Elizabeth Dickey died in 1884 at the age of Seventy-nine years.
