Virginia June Crites Martindale Cearing, 75, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Homeview Healthcare Center in Franklin, Johnson Co., IN. She was a resident of Franklin. She was born May 16, 1932 in Hadley, Hendricks Co., IN, daughter of Tilman Howard and Dorthus Emily Hunter Crites. She married Viris Vernon Martindale, Sr., on December 8, 1951. He preceded her in passing on December 12, 1986. She married 2nd to Paul Cearing in September, 1997.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Cearing of Franklin; three children, Viris Vernon Martindale, Jr., and wife Johanna of Bargersville, Rita Mourey of Greensburg, and Howard Andy Martindale and wife Kathy of Whiteland; a step-daughter Doe Cowden of Franklin; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Crites of Worthington; and a twin sister, Jean Strickler of Bloomington, IN.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Vernon Martindale, Sr.; and a brother Rexall Crites.
She was a graduate of Worthington High School in Greene Co., IN. June was employed by RCA in Indianapolis for 20 years and later was employed by Wal-Mart, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Providence Christian Church.
The Rev. Steve Sorenson will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at First Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
