Marion F. Payne was born August 23, 1881 in Girard, Kansas to Robert and Emma Payne and died Sunday December 18, 1977 at Watonga at the age of 96. He was a resident of the Watonga Community most of his life, having moved here with his parents in 1895 at the age of 14. Payne married Anna Spaeth at Watonga on December 21, 1910. She preceded him in death along with five brothers and one sister. He is survived by three sons, Arthur Payne, Watonga, Earl Payne Weleetka and Robert Payne, Midwest City, two daughters Mary Baisch, Oklahoma City, OK and Ethel Payne, Watonga, one brother Roy Payne, Watonga: two sisters, Blanche Kimmerly, Odessa, Texas and Beulah Cochran, Riverside, CA: five grandchildren and six great-grandsons. Funeral services for Payne were Tuesday, December 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Watonga with Rev. Jim Phares officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Watonga with Harris Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
