Elwood D. Herbein, of Dailey, WV and formerly of White Hall, MD, died Monday, August 17, 2009.
He was the husband of the late Loretta "Lottie" May (Samoraj) Herbein.
Born April 14, 1918, in Shenandoah, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Sarah Ellen (Artley) Herbein.
Mr. Herbein was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Freedom, and a former member of St. Athanasin, Baltimore, Md. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #289, Ringtown. Elwood was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He retired in 1985 from the Baltimore City Department of Traffic and Transit after 29 years of service. Elwood previously had worked for 19 years in the coal mines of Schuykill County.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Bargo of Dailey, W.Va.; two grandsons, Timothy and Conor Obrien; one granddaughter, Sera Bargo; and one sister, Doris Dillman of Ringtown.
Burial was in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Freedom.
