Bill was the son of William Alexander Semple, Jr. and Grayce Belle Moulton Semple.
He lived in Manhattan as a boy but moved to Norwalk, Fairfield Co., Connecticut as a teenager.
Bill was a college graduate and a surveyor by profession.
He married Willie Bertelle Parrish in 1938 in Orange Co., Florida, but they were divorced there a year later.
Bill then married Mary E. Whatley in 1941 in Seminole Co., Florida, but they were divorced there in 1943.
The name of his third wife is unknown. They had a son, William Alexander IV, and a daughter, Glenda, but they also separated and he did not remain in contact with his children.
He enlisted in the army from Connecticut on June 16, 1942 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged from the service.
Towards the end of his life, Bill stayed at a veteran's home in Rocky Hill, Hartford Co., Connecticut once in a while, but mostly lived in Easton, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania near his niece, Agnes.
