She married Claude Antwin James on Feb. 1, 1929 in Aitkin. She was a member of the local chapter (Captain Robert Orr) of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a charter member of the Merrifield Marathons, and a past member of the Elks. Ethel really enjoyed cooking, especially for her neighbors at Twin Palms Park in Arizona; where she and Claude wintered for many years. She also enjoyed baking for and sharing treats with the residents at Woodland Good Samaritan Village. Ethel made many things with her hands including knitted, crocheted, and embroidered items. Fishing was also a joy of Ethel's.
She is survived by her daughter Betty (Martin) Ehrhardt; Merrifield, Grandchildren: Terry (Patty) Ehrhardt; Great Falls, MT: Lori (Tim) Clark, Long View, WA. Great-Grandchildren: Patrick James Clark and Josephine Olivia Clark of Long View, WA. Also,many nieces and nephews especially, Pam McMenamey, who was greatly involved in the last years of Ethel's life.
She was preceded in death by husband Claude on Sept. 30, 1992, brothers Earl, Leo, and Sheldon.
Services will be held at a later date.
