Her father was Govenor J.B Alvarado. Her mother was Maria Martina Castro y Alvarado. She is listed as Celinda on all of the census records. She lived with her parents and siblings in the adobe that was built by her grandfather Francisco M. Castro. She was born there in 1852.
Her Grandfather Francisco M. Castro came on the Anza Expedition at the age of 2 in 1775 with his family. The Gov. and Martina moved to the adobe on the Rancho San Pablo at first with Martina's mother, Gabriella Berryessa y Castro in 1848.
Her grandmother Gabriela died in 1851. Gabriela was a descendant of Berryessa and Peralta families of the Anza Expedition.
Her father and mother were living in the Adobe in San Pablo, Contra Costa County, California in the 1870 census. Her sister Delphina was 27, brother Agustus was 24, brother Henry was 12 and little sister Adelina was 10. Her father was listed as John and a farmer with land valued at 25,000. This was because when Martina's mother died she
left most of the rancho land to Martina.
Celinda's uncle Victor Ramon Castro, lived at the other end of the rancho by Cerrito Creek. He was Martina's younger brother. Several other Castro uncles lived in the San Pablo, CA area.
Celinda died at the young age of 23 in San Rafael, Marin County, California on February 6, 1975. She may have been visiting her relatives there.
Celinda's brother Henry Alvarado became a superior court judge in Contra Costa County when he grew up.
