Birth: Aug. 31, 1899, Germany
Death: Dec. 15, 1987
Modesto
Stanislaus County
California, USA

The Fuhlendorfs were from the Northern part of Germany, a town called Tornesch. She married Rudolf and together they had three children, Wanda, Claus, and Rudolf (Rudy). They immigrated to the United States in 1928, and eventually moved to Escalon, California. After Rudolf's death, Meta moved to Modesto to be closer to her son, and also because the family farm was too much to handle by herself. She moved into town, and this is where I met her because she lived across the street from us. Meta was a delightful lady, active in her Lutheran Church. She had many friends, and participated in German activities such as Oktoberfest celebrations, making cookies for donating, and sewing and knitting or crocheting. She was kind and forgiving, and our family will never forget her. She is my husband's grandmother.
