John J. Baynam was born in Ida Grove on May 11, 1885, the son of James Baynam and Magdalena Pierce. A resident of Woodbury County for 50 years, Mr. Baynam passed away July 19, 1940, at a hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, due to an injury sustained in an auto accident several years prior and the complications arising from the injury He had reached the age of 55 years, 2 months and 9 days. At the age of two he moved with his parents to Woodbury County and it was his permanent home. He is survived by his only sister, Mrs. Oscar Bertelsen, his brother-in-law, Oscar Bertelsen, and one nephew, Ralph Bertelsen, several cousins and a host of friends. His parents preceded him in death. For 25 years he was a faithful member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Correctionville. Funeral services were held at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home with Rev. Robert H. Forrester officiating. Interment was made in the Good Hope Cemetery.
