The family moved as a family from New Brunswick to Bangor, Maine and in 1854 to Stillwater, Minnesota. They were following the lumber business as it grew across this land. I don't know much about Michael other than he has been a name in a family tree for a long time. I connected with a relative of Michael's brother Patrick and their information showed he died in Rochester, MN. I did some research and found Micheal in this cemetery. Michael served during the Civil War. He was in the Thrid Battery Light Artillery. He enlisted on August 15, 1862 and was discharged on July 20th, 1865.
I have not confirmed a wife for Michael. There is a Michael living in Duluth, St. Louis County, MN in the 1880 census. The wife is listed as Sarah Louise Casey. They had a daughter named Mary A. who was 3 years old. The family is again in the 1885 Minnesota census in Duluth. In 1870 census his occupation is listed as 'Explorer'. Maybe that was a sign of his future would hold.
Most of his Casey family is buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Bayport, MN. Most of his siblings went on to live long and fruitfull lives.
