Services for William Henry Barber ,78 ,will be conducted at 2 pm Friday in Newberry Chapel with Rev. Joe S. Allen, retired Baptist minister ,officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Newberry Funeral Home.
Barber died at 9:55am ,Monday in a local nursing home.
Born Feb. 27,1902 ,in Stockton ,NY , he married Hazel R Fitch on Oct 15,1919 in Brocton ,NY. A retired farmer and member of the Nazarene Church, Barber came to Childress from Brocton in 1972.
Survivors include his widow; four sons, Daniel and Bud Barber ,both of Childress, Fay O. Barber of Buffalo, NY and William D. Barber of Forestville, NY ;three daughters, Mrs. Jean Pagano of Dunkirk ,NY ,Miss June Barber of Gowanda ,NY and Miss Irene Barber of St. Paul, Minn. ; three sisters ,Mrs. Alice Porter of Des Moines ,Iowa , Mrs. Dorothy Schultz of Westfield ,NY and Mrs. Florence Richman of Long Beach ,Fla., 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be members of the REACT team.
