| Birth: | Nov. 11, 1838 Kentucky, USA | | Death: | Dec. 8, 1921 Bois D'Arc Greene County Missouri, USA |  According to the bio by their descendant Ryan Ricketts in the 2007 book "Republic, Missouri," Josephus and Eliza Ricketts and their 9 kids were on their way from Kentucky to California in the winter of 1891 when they found themselves in Plano, broke and homeless. They settled on 40 acres near Plano store, and helped by Josephus's Civil War pension began working to improve their farm, which is still owned by a descendant.
The children were James Thomas, Armenta Virginia "Jennie" (m. Green Lile), Lyda (m. Frank Batson), Asbury (m. Silas Monroe "Roe" Blades), Annie, Josie, Mary Rebecca Jane (m. John L. Johnson and William Burrow), Gilbert Luther (m. Sarah Bertha Smith), and Christopher Columbus "Lum" (m. Florie Smith).
