Elizabeth Houghton was born in Lodi, Michigan on April 4,1877, to Harry Winfield and Sarah Augustia (Miller) Houghton. She was an only child and was very devoted to her parents. Lizzie married William Clyde Sanford on Dec 21,1898, and raised 2 children, Wyman Winfield and Evadna Marion (Richardson). She and William maintained a farm, while caring for her aging parents and her children.
Upon retirement from farm life, they moved to Waterford, Michigan to be closer to their family.
