"Mr. J. W. Farish received a telegram yesterday from New Orleans announcing the death in that city of Miss Odele Champlin, aged 13 years, daughter of Mrs. Dr. A. P. Champlin, whose husband, a brother to Judge Z. T. Champlin of Biloxi, died here several years ago. This intelligence is received with regret by the many friends of the family. The young lady had been in declining health for some time. The remains will be brought here this morning at 9:26, and the funeral will take place from the Episcopal church at 11 o'clock. Interment will be made in Biloxi cemetery".
Appeared in the Daily Herald on Feb. 6, 1902:
"The funeral of Miss Odele Champlin, who died in New Orleans Wednesday, took place yesterday morning from the Episcopal church, Rev. J. S. Moore officiating. There was a large number of friends and relatives present. The interment was made in Biloxi cemetery. Mrs A. P. Champlin, who accompanied the remains from New Orleans, returned to her home in the afternoon".
