Mildred A. McGough, 82, of Angleton, Texas, passed away March 13, 2004. Mildred was born on September 17, 1921, to Edward D. Ferguson and Ophelia Shaffer Ferguson in Leon County, Texas. She grew up in North Zulch, Texas, where she met her husband of 62 years, Oadis McGough.
As a young family they moved to Clute, Texas, where Oadis went to work for Dow Chemical, and Mildred cared for her family. She lived a life of devotion to God and her family. Mildred accepted Christ as her savior early in life and served Him by working in the nursery at Temple Baptist Church. She had a genuine love for people, but especially for children. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and Bible study. Oadis and Mildred retired to the country, residing in Bedias, Texas, and attended the Bedias Baptist Church. Their home was a haven not just to family but for many others who enjoyed their hospitality. After their sons? death in 1998, they moved back to Angleton to be nearer to their family. Although Mildred became ill and could no longer attend church, she loved listening to Sunday School lessons over the telephone thanks to Second Baptist Church of Angleton.
Mildred is survived by her husband Oadis Gilbert McGough; children Richard Mark McGough and wife, Linda, Gilbert Wayne McGough and wife, Kim, along with two daughters-in-law Judy Pinckard and Mary Fulstone; grandchildren Richard Mark McGough Jr., Brian Keith McGough, Barbara Sue McGough, Shana Renee McGough, Oadis Clint McGough, Sharla Marie McGough, John Anthony Berry and Miles Wayne McGough; sisters Maxine Dawson, Minnie Rogers and Francis Carr, one brother John Ed Ferguson and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
