PEQUOT LAKES - Allen A. Hardy, age 77, of Pequot Lakes, and formerly of Pine River, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2006, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. He was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Swanburg to Reuben and Veta (King) Hardy.

Al served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950 during the occupation of Japan. He married Patricia Hariu on Jan. 27, 1951, in Two Harbors. He was a custom construction contractor in Minneapolis for 20 years and then in Pine River and the surrounding area. He was charter president of the Pine River Lions Club, served on the airport commission and helped to organize the Pine River Community Bowl and Pine River Golf Course. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pine River, the American Legion since 1968 and a lifetime member of Deep Portage Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Beth Sabas (Jim), Debra Norman (Steve), Lane Hardy (Sue), all of Pine River; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Clarice), of Brainerd; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, with Pastor John Twiton officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
