RCAF pilot flight instructor Sgt Alfred Emile (Mush) Regimbal 's Cessna Crane crashed west of Cochrane, Alberta, on a flight from No. 3 Service Flying Training School, Calgary. There is a cairn at the site along Highway 1A. Mush was born and educated at Lafleche, Sask. and was farming when he enlisted at Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1940. He married Aileen (Fogal) at Vancouver, British Columbia, a couple of months later, she subsequently lived at Calgary.
Regimbal Island, Saskatchewan 55.45°N / 106.5833°W located in southern Pinehouse Lake, was named in his honour
Brother of Wilfred Henry Regimbal. The boys were the sons of Henry J. and Olive Marie (Gregoire) Regimbal. Harry came from Saint-Hippolyte, MRC de la Rivière-du-Nord, Québec, to Lafleche in 1913 to operate a lumber yard. He was transferred to Winnipeg in 1938 and moved to Wood Mountain in 1940 to operate a hotel.
