Wilburn "Tug" Boggs, 99, of Orange Park, Fla., a former resident of Firebrick, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2009, at the residence of his daughter, Greta. He was born Feb. 27, 1910, in Greenup County, a son of the late Hugh Boggs and Mahala Chaffin Boggs.
He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Dwight Hunt; and one great-grandson, Michael Jon Kennedy; two brothers, Eugene Boggs and James Boggs; two sisters, Helen Davis and Beatrice Schofiel; and his loving wife, Ruby Pullin Boggs, who died Dec. 19, 1978.
Survivors include three sons and wives, Edwin and Frances Boggs of South Shore, Royce and Maxine Boggs of Firebrick and Neal and Chris Boggs of Brunswick, Ga.; one daughter, Greta Stanton of Orange Park; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ethel Boggs of Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He lived a long and happy life and was loved by his family and friends.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, with the Rev. Raymond Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. and until the funeral time on Tuesday.
