The funeral was at 2:00 PM Sunday at Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Clint Davis and Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating. Burial followed in Chester Memorial Gardens, Chester SC.
Born in Sharon SC on Feb 3, 1919, Mr. Gourley was a son of the late James Paul and Leila Jane Sherer Gourley. He was a graduate of Sharon High School, veteran of the US Air Force during WWII and a retired Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service. He was a member of Chester ARP Church for over 50 yrs. where he was a Deacon and Elder. He was an avid gardener claiming tomatoes as his specialty and he also enjoyed weekly golfing outings with his family and friends. Mr. Gourley was the widower of Mary Grace McCallum Gourley.
Surviving are his son, Steve Gourley of Chester SC and two gr children, Amy Perry and her husband Shane of Greenville SC and Brooke Gourley of Greenwood SC. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cathy "J.R" Gourley.
