Wed., Nov. 29, 1950 The Carnegie Herald Carnegie, OK Mrs. Base, Pioneer Oklahoma Woman, Rites Sunday, P.M. Services were in the Greenfield Mennonite church at 2 p.m. Sunday for Mrs. Susie Base, 90-year-old pioneer state woman, who died at her home in that community Friday. Rev. R. Friesen was in charge of the services and burial was in the Greenfield cemetery under direction of the Harvey Funeral home. Mrs. Base had lived in Oklahoma about 60 years. She was born in Poland July 25, 1860. She went to South Russia as a child and in 1874 she came to the United States. She was married to Henry M. Base Oct. 19, 1879, in Canton, Kansas. They made their home on a farm near Mound Ridge, Kan., until 1891 when they came to the southern part of the Oklahoma territory. In 1901 they located on a claim southwest of Fort Cobb which remained the home. Survivors are five sons, Jacob, Mission, Texas; Peter, Enterprise, Kansas; Dan, Willie and Isaac Base, all of the home community; and four daughters, Mrs. Peter Schmidt, LaJunta, Colo.; Mrs. John Schmidt, Goltry; Mrs. Emil Dalke, Burrton, Kansas, and Mrs. Henry Dalke, of southwest of Fort Cobb. Also 40 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
