D.J. TATE
D.J. Tate one of Cleveland County's oldest and highly respected citizens died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.E. Harrison Saturday August 21st,1920.
Mr. Tate served with the Confederate army during the Civil War. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R.E. Harrison and one son D.S. Tate of this place. He was buried in Greenwood cemetery, Rev. A.N. Stanfield conducted the funeral services.
He was born Evan Draton Tate (4/1834-8/21/1920) in "The Pocket Zone", Armurchee, Floyd County, Georgia, son of Isaac Newton Tate (4/10/1804-1/20/1885) and Rachel Cannon (1809-1838). He has 4 siblings, John Tate (Abt. 1830), Mary L. Tate (Aft. 1830), David Tate (between 1830-1835), that preceded him, and Marion Lafayette Tate (9/05/1836-7/27/1910), that was born after him.
Isaac Newton Tate then married Cynthia Hendrix and had 9 more children. Of which I am of direct descent. I have a database posted to www.rootsweb.com, just took it offline to review the info and make it more accurate, will repost when I am done. what I need to know is how tombstone reads his name, so that I can change my data to reflect this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, James E. Tate
