Sadie was born June 21, 1914 in Wilmington and was the daughter of the late John Hulon Barnhill and Ella Vance Shingleton Barnhill. Also lovingly remembered is her husband, Frederick Norwood Skipper; step-son, Frederick N. "Skippy" Skipper; grandson, Richard Skipper and his fiancée, Jennifer Schooler; and all of Sadie's siblings.
She is survived by her son, Lex Hayes Skipper (Juanita); grandchildren, Beth Marks (Richard), Angie Skipper (Alvin Cooke), Lex Skipper, Jr. (Cathrine), Sabrina Lee Grizzle and Cassie Lee; 12 great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Sadie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hampstead Branch.
Sadie was a lady who loved her family and friends. She had a kind heart, a glorious smile and a feisty sense of humor that brought joy into the lives of all she came in contact with. Sadie's quiet faith and thankfulness for her many blessings in life spoke clearly to her family and friends. Sadie's century on this earth and how she lived will not be forgotten.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Hampstead Branch with Mr. Joseph Shingleton officiating. Burial will follow in Latter Day Saints Cemetery, Hampstead.
